Acting on Community Concerns Halloween is fast approaching ππ»ππ»ππ» Not everyone enjoys or wants to take part in Halloween. To help address anti-social behaviour and the concerns associated with this time of year, we are providing advice and guidance not only to residents within our community, but also to local shops and retailers, whose support can play an important role in reducing and preventing such behaviour. For those taking young children trick or treating, following these precautions can help keep everyone safe, whilst keeping Halloween fun and enjoyable: - Children should be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times
- Where possible, visit the homes of trusted and well known people
- If a property doesn't have display Halloween decorations, it's likely the occupants are not participating, so it's best not to knock
For those with teenagers who may be going trick or treating, ensuring they understand the following guidance can help keep everyone safe, whilst allowing older children to enjoy Halloween responsibly: - Avoid knocking at properties without decorations or pumpkins outside
- Do not use alcohol, flour or eggs
- If a 'no trick or treat' sign is displayed, they should move on without knocking
- Encourage them to stay in groups and never go into a stranger's home
- Remind them that Halloween is meant to be fun, not frightening for others
If you would prefer not receive trick or treaters, you can download and display our 'no trick or treat' sign in your front door or window. This provides a clear and polite way of letting other know that you are not taking part in Halloween activities. By working together and showing consideration for others, we can help ensure Halloween remains a safe, enjoyable and positive experience for the whole community.
